Summary
Compounding this crazy career move, in 1980 the remaining threesome changed their band name to Screen Test. With no recognizable trademark, "We spent three years building up this national reputation and it was gone in a minute," [Gary Frenay] recalls. Still, Screen Test did have their video "You Don't Know Me" on MTV's Basement Tapes, while also releasing two Eps, Inspired Humans Making Noise (Northside, 1981) and Screen Test: Over the Top 1982 (Northside) and the full-length Screen Test 1986 (Arlington National).
The Flashcubes decided to give it another go in 1993 as they reunited to record four new tracks, one of which, "It's You Tonight," appeared on the first volume of Yellow Pills, one of Big Deal Record's power-pop compilations. The momentum from this recording session convinced them to reform the band, although they are not able to play out much because they live in different cities.
