Executives need to possess certain skills to be able to succeed in a business environment that is being transformed by technological innovations, globalization, re-engineering, employee empowerment and other developments. While there is no 'perfect' CEO, those who come close possess a satisfactory balance of 12 diverse characteristics. These attributes include leadership and team building skills, a performance-driven personality, balance of strategic vision and operating experience, and good judgment based on cautious risk taking. Effective CEOs also have international experience, financial acumen, technological knowledge, external focus, good communication skills and the ability to manage change.
