Meanwhile, on the broader topic of Marin housing needs, the Marin Organizing Committee, which I wrote about in June, has taken on emergency housing as a project. The group reports that the 2007 one-day count of the "chronically homeless" found 1,337 adults homeless in Marin County; the count does not include children and adults who were homeless but working, in jail, in the hospital, camping in remote areas or "couch surfing" with family or friends at the time of the count.
