[Steve Adubato]: It is the rare public speaker who can deliver an effective presentation from a prepared text. In fact, in my communication seminars, I use a videotape of a prominent public official delivering a commencement speech that he attempts to read verbatim. At several points, he loses his place, stumbles over certain words and puts the emphasis on the wrong words at the wrong time. Simply put, he delivered an uninspiring monotone-like presentation that largely fell on deaf ears.
