Summary
Every October, SFR produces a Restaurant Guide, which includes our 40 favorite restaurants in the city, as well as the Restaurant of the Year. In 2003, we chose The Pink Adobe, a wildly popular 60-year-old eatery opened by the late Rosalea Murphy. Murphy's grandson Joe Hoback and his wife, Jennifer Hoback, have maintained the restaurant's classic fare while expanding successfully into the future with one of Santa Feans' favorite bars, The Dragon Room, and the newer Cafe Pink. Below is the Pink Adobe's famous recipe for Gypsy Stew, reprinted with permission, from Rosalea Murphy's 1988 classic The Pink Adobe Cookbook.
