Mandarin Chinese as the next business language of the Pacific Rim

The question of whether Chinese Mandarin has the potential to become the official business language of the world still invites debates. Although most peoples of the world have grown accustomed to English as the global language of commerce, science and entertainment, the imminent collapse of the British Empire and the decreasing economic predominance of the US will soon render English an unlikely choice for a business language. However, the choice for the eventual global business language shall rest on geopolitical and macroeconomic trends as well as political and social truths.
