Electronic commerce transaction are expected to reach more than one trillion dollars by the year 2002, and companies will spend an estimated $9 billion annually on software and systems to enable this market to grow. However, electronic commerce needs to offer the same level of integrity, security and trust that is expected from traditional businesses if it is to achieve its full potential.
