During the time of my officers' hospital stay, back at the headquarters, I was putting together literature obtained online from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (www.cdc.gov.) regarding the facts on MRSA. A medic's BSI equipment includes the obvious latex or vinyl protective surgical gloves and also goggles or safety glasses.\n FREQUENT HAND WASHING Next on the protective measures list is the simple act of hand washing. All of these BSI procedures and equipment cleaning measures aid not only in the battle against MRSA, but apply to guarding against many other deadly infectious diseases of concern, i.e., HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, meningitis, etc.

The Mrsa Menace

Two years ago, I posted an alarming health bulletin warning at the Philadelphia SWAT Unit HQs about a new menacing staph infection. As one of the medics for the city's full-time team of 60 officers, I thought it would be beneficial bringing attention to this dangerous rise of staph infections in Pennsylvania.
