Summary

The group is led by 20-year-old coach Jay Ozene. "She's one of the best coaches I've had," [Kara] said. "She's young and she's a real good dancer and a good coach. We talk to her about anything. She's like our older sister. She's someone we can relate to and look up to."

"I like to use this as a mentoring thing for them," Ozene said. "I tell the girls 'here's my phone number, text me. If you're having trouble at home, if you're getting frustrated, try not to get in trouble. If you need to communicate with me, text me or email me before you get in trouble.'"

"I want them to be wonderful Black young women," Ozene said. "I want them to be proud of who they are. Don't think you have to hide behind anything or don't think anyone else is better than you. You stand your ground. You be a proud young woman. No matter what's your size, color or how you look, you should be a proud young woman."
