Summary


The individuals here are [Silvia Broome] (Nicole Kidman), a U.N. translator fluent in the Matoban language of Ku (which was invented for the movie), and Tobin Keller (Sean Penn), a Secret Service agent who investigates her claim that she overheard a plot to assassinate Matoba's hoary president when he visits the U.N. He began as a benevolent dictator who helped his people, but now he's accused of genocide in his struggle against separate overthrow movements led by an exiled former leader and a revolutionary with whom Silvia was once in love, until "the color of our skin" forced them apart. (Translation: "Colonialist, go home!").
