Summary
There are people who try to get on the bandwagon now that it is popular to be from Harlem, but the old timers know the difference. We have people who are giving tours of Harlem who do not know where Langsten Hughes lived or where the Savoy Ballroom was located.
In 2008 when Harlem is on the verge of extinction, the bunk shooters and community pimps are trying to suck the last bit of blood from the bones of Harlem culture. The places that made Harlem significant are going the way of the dodo bird. Small is gone; the Red Rooster is long gone. Jocks, Wells, Frazier's, Snookie's Sugar Bowl, Connie's, and The Renaissance Casino are all gone.As the result of the gentrification of Harlem, the indigenous populace of the former Black capitel of the world is now scurrying around the community trying to find affordable housing. Affordable housing in Harlem is outdated. It does not exist. People who have lived in houses for years are now walking the street talking to anyone who will listen trying to get a hookup.See the full content of this document
