Participants toured Yad Vashem and learned from its Holocaust experts, including Professor Yehuda Bauer, Professor of Holocaust Studies at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Holocaust survivor Ruth Brand, whose video testimony is featured in the Echoes and Reflections curriculum, recounted life before, during and after the Holocaust. And ADL National Director [Abraham H. Foxman] shared his Holocaust experiences in front of a filled-to-capacity crowd containing a mix of American educators, Jewish students on Birthright Israel trips and Israeli soldiers. All were riveted by the story of Mr. Foxman's survival as a child hidden from the Nazis by his Catholic nanny. "In all this horror," he said, "is the power of human beings to do good in the worst of circumstances, and to stand up and say no."
