Taking a Crack at It Again; 100 Black Men Kick-Off New Chapter in Broward

Summary


This is the 97th chartered chapter of the 100 Black Men of America, and the second in Ft. Lauderdale. The 100 is a service organization that specializes in mentoring and community development through empowerment. The first chapter's charter was revoked in 2001 after it moved into construction and other commercial activities that threatened the group's non-profit status. So this chapter not only has the national standard of the 100 to live up to, it must also repair a tarnished image.

"I'm so excited. When I heard about the chapter I said 'that's wonderful, how can I help.' Ft. Lauderdale needs the help and I get a personal reward from being apart of this," Almas said.
