The US system of checks and balances ensures that no one branch of government has absolute power. Similarly, the Texas Bankers Association (TBA) is governed by a Board of Directors made up of bankers representing institutions of all sizes and from all geographic locations. No one bank controls the decisions made by the board. This month, during the Volunteer Summit in Austin, TBA will once again depend on this democratic process to present, review and analyze two federal banking-related bills before formulating an official position. The system of checks and balances has worked for the country, and it continues to make TBA the best state banking association in the nation.
