Survey Taps Consumer Thoughts On Health Care

Summary


About a third of the respondents would support - or would consider supporting - a tax increase to help cover the uninsured; also, roughly three out of four of those surveyed believe health care will be an important issue in the 2008 election, and about half described it as one of the top-three issues affecting their vote; and approximately half the consumers say they understand their health insurance coverage, but only 8 percent completely understand their policies. The Deloitte Center for Health Solutions says the survey data provides valuable insights into ways that health-care providers, health plans, life-science companies, policy makers, and employers can work to close the gaps that exist between what consumers want and what they are currently getting.
