In Lancaster County, on the night of Jan. 26, this year, there were 738 homeless individuals, including 180 children, living in emergency or transitional shelters or no shelter at all.

This count is merely a snapshot of a single moment in time. Research indicates that one in 200 people nationwide experiences homelessness. Applied locally, that statistic suggests that as many as 2,500 individuals in Lancaster County might experience homelessness during the course of a year.
