Ever since the subprime mortgage bubble burst last summer, the prices of financial stocks have tumbled, generating a greater volume of inquiries from concerned investors. and ride out the storm. Others view the unsettled market conditions as an opportunity to revisit the fundamentals of investor relations and not only respond to shareholder inquiries, but also take a proactive approach to investor communications. Wall Street veterans suggest framing the issue as a series of questions: 1. What sets you apart from the rest of the financial sector? 2. What is your growth story? 3. Why should investors own your stock? Nobody knows when the sector will turn, but when it does, it is going to be pretty powerful because everybody is so underweight financially. So a lot of the investment community right now is just doing their homework and getting ready and trying to understand what names they want to own.
