Summary

Miami supposedly derives its name from an Algonquin Indian word meaning sweetheart, which is appropriate since the recent celebration of the First State Bank of Miami's 10th anniversary could be termed a sweetheart of a celebration. In 1907, the First State Bank of Miami was chartered with capital stock of $25,000. To diversify its market, First State Bank branched into nearby Pampa in 1998, the same year that an ATM and new night deposit box were added to the main location in Miami. Today the bank has total assets of $26 million on capital of $2.2 million. Longevity and steady growth are hallmarks of the area and First State Bank of Miami.
