In today's competitive times, agencies cannot look only at "selling" opportunities; they must fully embrace the concept of running an agency as a business. One result of functioning as a business has been that agencies are becoming more specialized in their offerings of products and services. That has meant hiring specialists. If you want to move to specialization, you will definitely want to train your existing employees about the value of this aspect of agency transformation. First, you will need a vision. Second, you will need a roadmap. Third, you will need a communications strategy. Whatever your method, never tell your employees that they are going to need to change. They will resist and they will become blockers every step of the way. Instead, ask them to help you make a new hire into a specialist and a profit center for the agency.
