Summary

Open since November of 2001, Cellar Cat Caf's tall, narrow interior is no less charming than the outdoor seating. Housed in a sort of giant lean-to with wide windows watching over the patio, the whimsically decorated room is washed in warm tones of red, burgundy and butter yellow. Every conceivable kind of feline knickknack is on display: platters and posters; books large and small; lamps, clocks, candlesticks, wind chimes and teapots. A miniature bronze sculpture of a cat in Buddha posture carries a hand-lettered card with the motto Be Here Meow. A smaller cellar room is available for large parties or romantic winter nights. We recklessly asked for more bread to soak up every drop of the sauce. The crab cakes, which could have been caramelized on the outside a bit more thoroughly, were nevertheless dense and flavorful, accompanied by a few tender leaves of baby lettuce and a ramekin of slightly too thick aioli. A borrowed squeeze from the shrimps' lime wedge cut the oiliness and perked up the crab too.
