Summary
[Slaid Cleaves]' character sketches are descriptive and believable. He sings of Tiger Tom Dixon, "tougher than leather and quick as a cat," and of Willie McCann, who "if it weren't for horses and divorces, would be a lot better off today." Other times, Cleaves tells stories in the first person: "I never knew what time it was til closin' time came 'round / my drinkin' days are over but I'm still trouble bound," comes from part of the singer/songwriter collective unconscious and the multi-guitar track "drinkin' days."
