We have all seen how black people swoon worshipfully over those with straight or wavy "good hair" and recoil at those who go natural and show their "naps." Take note: one of the original source words for "naps" is the African word, "nebt." In the ancient Egyptian and Coptic, it means "plaits or braids" and in Hausa, "braids" or "tufts of hair." Seeing the advantage in its texture or tuftedness, Africans wove for themselves a myriad of beautiful and creative hairstyles to celebrate and commemorate culture, including religious and marital status. There was NEVER any of that "flapped down over the head" stuff that we've been driven to since our minds have become gripped by the chains of white supremacy mythology.
