ANOTHER DISTINCTLY Pittsburgh victory last week belonged to The Povertyneck Hillbillies, as anyone who listens to Froggy already knows. With the ink drying on a record deal, they spent Thursday taking calls and playing their record on the air for a couple hours. I don't know anything about them, so I took a trip out to Froggy Country to check it out and afterward ended up with them at (where else) Primanti's. Nice dudes, but a surreal afternoon. >> Although I really can't handle pop country, the folks who run Froggy check out for sure. They have a soft spot for local artists and, as an independent station, are perhaps better able to "get behind a local group" than most of our rock stations.
