Summary
Rid yourself of old paperwork safely while helping in the fight against cancer. The orthodontics office of Dr. Morris and Dr. Taylor is teaming with Cintas to host a shred-it day in Kroger's parking lot April 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For a minimum $5 donation, your unwanted paper-work will be discarded onsite. It's a great time to clean your files and ease the worries of identity theft. There's a five box/bag limit, and it's not necessary to remove staples. All donations will support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. This is the office's second year with the project.Employee Carla Blechman has led the Relay for Life Team Str8ners for three years. She says the event will also include two American Cancer Society raffles: a 38-mpg 2011 Fiat and a seven-day vacation to a Bahamas resort (airfare not included). Contact Carla at 397-7038 with questions. On the day of the event, she may be reached at 681-3329.
After reporting on the Portsmouth Humane Society's Fur Ball and seeing the great care the employees and volunteers have for the animals, our family adopted Simon, our secondcat. Sadie, our first feline, wasn't happy about the new edition at first, but she's come around. Whenever I contact society executive director Christie Chipps Peters and her team, I'm always impressed with their ability to do so much with so little. The society will be having an adopt-a- thon April 16 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Westwind Apartment's spring festival. The apartments are at 3601 Gateway Drive, near the DMV. Earlier that day, the society will host an Easter egg hunt at its new location, 4020 Seaboard Court, near Airline Boulevard. Dogs are welcome. The egg hunt begins at 12:30 and cost is $5 per participant. Don't forget to bring a basket. Why not take the kids to the egg hunt, check out the new digs, then stop by Westwind to pick out a pet? Sounds like the perfect day.See the full content of this document
