Teradyne has successfully applied entertainment to improve employee involvement, productivity, recognition from customers, quality standards and company morale. The firm uses, including the hidden talents of diverse employees, to get messages across to various levels and cultures of people. In an effort to involve employees in the quality process, Teradyne's Foundry division instituted Zero Defects (ZD) Day in 1987. The ZD Day organizing committee was charged with creating a quarterly meeting that would enjoyably convey the corporation's message. Spoofs were written of the TV game shows 'Wheel of Fortune,' 'Family Feud,' and 'The Price is Right.' Awards were given and the quarterly meeting were included.
