Shen Yun: Dance of Divine Beings Graces State Theatre

"There were 400 costumes used in tonight's performance," said Guimin Guan, a tenor with [Shen Yun]. He said the company celebrates ethnic Chinese cultures and traditions that are forbidden by the communist nation of China. The stories highlight the plight of a people struggling to practice Fulan Dafa-a spiritual system inspired by Buddhist teachings of morality truthfulness and compassion.

"Bad things happen in dark places, and we are trying to bring light to this issue," said Lucia Dunn, Faculty Advisor of Falun Dafa Group at the Ohio State University. She thanked Cleveland and Playhouse Square for the warm reception and hoped Shen Yun will perform again and enlighten the public of the plight and suffering of people in China.

Councilwoman Mamie Mitchell, Ward 6, presented Shen Yun with a Resolution of Recognition on behalf of Martin Sweeney and thanked Shen Yun for sharing a unique part of Chinese culture and traditions. "The backgrounds are beautiful and the performances really elevate you to higher awareness," said Mitchell.
