HONG KONG (Reuters) - U.S.-based asset manageris in advanced talks to buy an up to 20 percent stake in state-controlled Chinese investment company TEDA International Holding (Group) Co. for between $500 million and 600 million, said a source familiar with the matter.

DE Shaw's planned investment in TEDA International was a precursor to the Chinese company's planned initial public offering in 2013, the source told Reuters on Wednesday [Dec. 14]. The source was not authorized to speak about the deal and declined to be identified.
