James Durham's fragile competency to stand trial was hanging by a thread Friday, threatening to delay the start of his murder trial Monday over a fatal bar shooting.

After learning Durham had stopped taking his anti-psychotic and anti-anxiety medications in the Vanderburgh County Jail, Durham's lawyers sought a last-minute hearing Friday in Circuit Court, concerned that Durham once again has lost the ability to understand the charges against him.
