LIVE TO EAT...Got a voice message from Gary "The Breeze" Obligacion, manager of Marinus restaurant out at Bernardus Lodge. He was babbling incoherently (actually it was my cell phone and the connection was bad-Gary never babbles incoherently-at least not until very late at night) about a new guy who's working at Marinus...I don't know, I couldn't get his name, but Gary was excited to have him there, so why don't you stop by and ask him what's up.

Meanwhile, at Bernardus on Thursday, Oct. 5, is the Fourth Annual Bernardus Wine Dinner. A 6:30pm reception leads to a 7:30pm dinner in the Meritage Ballroom celebrating autumn, Bernardus wine, life, food and wine. Cal "Baby Buddha" Stamenov will be creating an autumn-inspired, five-course feast, "Malolactic" Mark Jensen will be overseeing the wine action and Bernardus winemaker "Clean" Dean DeKorth will be on hand to do whatever it is that winemakers do when they're not looking into giant fermentation tanks.

Don't forget Rio's Hospitality Industry Mondays where folks in the biz get 25 percent off their entire bill-I'm seeing some big savings for me in that formula, let me tell you. Pretty soon, when Downtown Dining opens Smokehouse Willy's in Cannery Row, they'll have just about every night of the week covered. I say right on.
