One example of a status report that was right on the ball was during a postal strike many years ago. Because of the strike, the report never arrived. Dismissing the strike as a possible reason for non-receipt, the branch involved decided that 'no news was good news' and they took the decision to agree the contract. When it finally arrived, the report was probably the worst Derek Scott had ever read. The company was run from a small house by the wife of an undischarged bankrupt. This story had a happy ending because the woman won a L500,000 lottery.
