Satellite assembly simulation rings up 20-1 ROI for Boeing.
In its first full year of simulating assembly and test operations, the Boeing Company's satellite business rang up substantial savings, according to Theodore G. Lumpkin, chief technologist for advanced manufacturing technology. He adds that the savings will increase every year for the foreseeable future as the use of the software expands.
Moreover, Lumpkin calculates an impressive 20-to-1 return on investment (ROI) in simulations. "For every dollar we invest in the DELMIA systems, we get back twenty," Lumpkin says.
