Summary


Complications began early on in her pregnancy. [Nicola] was hospitalized three times due to bleeding. The doctors tried to prevent her premature birth but at 29 weeks A'ryn was born by Caesarian section. As if this was not traumatic enough Nicola suffered from a minor stroke during the delivery. Little A'ryn weighed in at a mere three pounds and was immediately swept away and attached to life support. It wasn't until a week and a half later that A'ryn's ventilator was removed and the nervous new parents got to hold her for the first time. A'ryn remained in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for a long five weeks. Those days in November 2003 seem distant now to the Jackson family. Parents as well as A'ryn are doing great thanks to life-saving therapies developed through March of Dimes research. "A'ryn is strong, active, beautiful, and right on track with other two-year-olds."
