In November, [Alan Suits] was awarded an $8,000-plus judgement relating to his dealings with Dufort. Because Dufort neglected to turn up for court, Suits says he hasn't seen her or his money since the judgement which originated after Suits gave Dufort an antique dagger from Indonesia on consignment. "When someone takes merchandise on consignment you agree to pay for it when it's sold," Suits says. Dufort "had taken a lot of merchandise. She'd done a substantial amount of business in the community." According to [Forrest Broadley], "She used to have a gallery on the Plaza, a place in the flea market. She had been in town for a long time." As a result of her status, merchants freely gave her goods. Then, Suits says, "she fell way behind."
