Summary

Industry rule No. 1,365: "That's why it's called the music bus/ness." If you don't have a Johnny Ramone in your band, you'll never make it. Too drunk/fucked up to even get out of the gate, you'll languish, your band's bones littering the graveyard packed full of those who have come before you, their tombstones all reading "Par-tay!" same as yours. (Incidentally No. 1,366: "That's why it's called the music business" reads: If you've nothing but Johnny Ramones in your band, you might very well make it, but you'll suck. You'll sell a ton of records to people who won't admit to buying them a few years later. see: Creed, Pussycat Dolls.)

That said, there comes a time in every man's life when it's time to let the guard down. For instance, after feuding for years with Eazy-E, Dr. Dre paid him a visit in the hospital before AIDS cut E's life short. Asked if he'd phoned [Joey] when he learns Joey's in the last days of a vicious battle with cancer, Johnny responds nonchalantly, "For what?"
