Right On, Councilman Polensek, Write On

Summary

CLEVELAND - Cleveland Ward 11 Councilman Mike Polensek caused quite a stir when a letter he sent to Arpsenio Winston, an 18-year-old drug trafficking suspect, was made public. If you haven't heard by now, the long-serving councilman who represents north Collinwood admonished Winston to stay out of his ward after Polensek learned that Winston was arrested for selling crack to an undercover Cleveland Police officer in front of a Ward 11 convenience store.

To make this saga even juicier is that [Tonya Lewis] complained that Polensek's letter referred to Winston as "dumber than mud" - the reference being that Winston allegedly sold the crack in broad daylight, in front of a convenience store and to an undercover cop, no less. Lewis, however, considers the "dumber than mud" remark as being racist in nature because mud is black and dirty.
