Summary
Richard B. Chase (born May 4, 1939) received his BS, MBA, and PhD, all in production management, from UCLA. Chase worked briefly as a methods analyst at a financial institution, but his burning desire to make an impact through research compelled him to complete his PhD in just 3 years at the age of 26. Chase's thought leadership in service operations began with his widely adopted operations management textbook, Operations Management for Competitive Advantage (with Nick Aquilano and later Bob Jacobs). Chase, an energetic self-proclaimed service junkie, is widely regarded as one of the founders of the service operations management field.
