I HAD NOT PAID ATTENTION to an Emancipation Day holiday until the news came out that the tax return deadline was being extended this year because of the official observation in Washington. The capital's holiday also affected the deadline in 2007, but I guess I must have had all my affairs in order that year and didn't procrastinate, thus I wasn't aware.
Prentis Park resident Christine Davis wants more people to know. Davis, 85, has long lobbied for a national Emancipation Day holiday.
