Report: One in Four Doesn't Graduate

Summary


About one in four Indiana students isn't graduating from high school. Among minorities and students living in poverty, the percentage of nongraduates is even higher.

Suellen Reed, superintendent for public instruction, said early intervention in children's lives, such as a statewide full-day kindergarten effort, will be key to improving those numbers. She announced the data Monday during a meeting of the Indiana Education Roundtable.
