Summary

Westcott, who was born in Vermont and moved to Philadelphia after getting her bachelor's degree from Rhode Island School of Design, was close to her family and especially to her mother, Nadine Bernard Westcott, the children's book author and illustrator. She made frequent trips between Philly and Nantucket, Mass., where her parents lived, and was coming home from a visit when the accident occurred. Her dog Ella, a constant companion, was with her at the time of the accident. Ella was not injured and is back with [Jim Houser] and the couple's other dog Stugley.
