Summary
The 2002 study showed Angiomax to be a safe and cost-effective alternative to heparin. The most telling finding was that Angiomax led to fewer bleeding problems than heparin. The rate of bleeding for patients taking Angiomax was 3.7% compared with 9.3% for patients taking heparin alone; it was 2.4% for Angiomax compared with 4.1 % for patients taking heparin and GP 2B/3A inhibitors.
