The Clean Pressroom: the little things a company does to maintain the image and integrity of its facility can mean big things for the company's bottom line.
On March 25, 1911, a fire broke out at the Triangle Shirtwaist Company in Manhattan. As the blaze continued to rage, employees were seen leaping desperately from the ninth story, even though there was a fire escape on the same floor. It is suspected that the owners had locked the doors leading to the fire escapes, in order to prevent employees from stealing. When the smoke had settled, 146 of the 500 employees had died.
