Pressler's Miscellany

Summary

Now that Zack Stalberg has resigned as editor in chief of the Daily News and newly anointed managing editor Michael Days has taken up Stalberg's former post, everyone's asking: Who will take Days' position at the People Paper? In the past Knight Ridder has been loath to hire new people at the DN when a staff member quits, or even dies. Which is why, newsroom gossip says, they're looking internally to fill the position--really internally. "Terrell Owens' fibula would be a great fit, structurally, for the paper," says a staffer about the tabloid's popular columnist, who recently replaced the long-vacant Smarty Jones column. "We're dealing with a skeleton crew anyway," the staffer says, adding that, "Despite the recent trouble surrounding the fibula, we have confidence that this bone is a leader that can carry us through this difficult time"But from elsewhere in the media world, competition arises. Philadelphia magazine editor Larry Platt's recently removed tooth-cyst would prefer not to be overlooked. "There's too much navel-gazing going on in the media today," said the cyst when reached for comment. "Over at Philadelphia magazine, I've learned that it's all about oral service"The cyst was removed from Platt's mouth last week after repeated jostling by the organs of local restaurateurs caused it to become inflamed.
