Summary
The Christmas holidays used to mean gathering with family, and visiting with old friends and neighbors. Yes, we still brought presents and exchanged gifts, but the real joy was the spirit of benevolence and kindness that filled our homes and spread to our neighbors. We didn't need organized toy drives or promotional marketing campaigns to prompt us to give to the less fortunate. Giving, sharing and kindness were natural responses to the holiday season.
