That doesn't mean [Percy Squire]'s battle to maintain control of Columbus' oldest radio station catering to the Black community is over. He - and the public at large - will have an opportunity to meet with at least three FCC commissioners on his own turf, as an informal hearing of the FCC could draw several hundred people to discuss possible FCC rules changes that could allow a greater concentration of media power in the hands of fewer and fewer companies.

"They would come to industry conferences and hold themselves out as the savior who could help us," Squire said. "They had no intention of helping us. They had the intention of swindling us out of our stations."

"Typically, the hearings have been more or less a public relations device," Squire said of the FCC's forming hearings. "Having three commissioners here actually gives the public an opportunity to speak to a majority of the FCC."
