The PBX systems industry is becoming increasingly aware of the value of customer service, enhanced applications and support from third party vendors. Since PBX systems tend to be technologically similar, vendors of these systems are attempting to differentiate themselves through added service and features, especially in connectivity areas. Industry insiders consider PBXs to be capable of controlling a variety of network functions, and relevant applications are being developed for this purpose. Also increasing are applications to exploit PBX's capabilities in broadband services, wireless technologies and multimedia systems. With the increasing complexity and breadth of these systems, it is becoming more common for a vendor to contract a third-party vendor to achieve solutions. For this reason, greater numbers of partnerships are predicted in the near future.
