Summary
At the federal level, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has made great strides. The Corps is nearing completion of many "foundation" projects - crucial to the revitalization of the Everglades. These include restoring the original curves and oxbows of the Kissimmee River south of Orlando; and sending abundant, clean, fresh water through eastern Everglades National Park. The Corps, with its state and local partners, has started construction of initial projects and has begun the planning or design for nearly 20 other CERP projects.
