A police chief fatally shot a Southern Indiana man Thursday after he refused to drop the shotgun he was carrying, Indiana State Police said.

Two Orange County sheriff's deputies went to the home of Kevin Cook, 47, to serve an arrest warrant for failure to appear in court, but Cook went out the back door carrying a shotgun, state police said.
