Summary
Last year the introductory Horizon Awards were matching acrylic sculptures by Arlene Abend. This year mosaic artist Amy Rohde got the call. "I was really honored," Rohde reflected, showing off her initial design. "It was especially nice since I had taken a hiatus, a much-needed rest. I had been waiting tables and this was a good project to get me going again." Saying she had needed a quiet time for reflection and introspection, Rohde noted the last piece she had done was a shrine for La Cena, a Fayetteville restaurant with a Mediterranean motif.
"They had an image, a swirl with a crown and their new logo," Rohde said of the 6 ½-by-8 ½-inch mosaic plaques the CRC wants her to create. "I changed the logo a little, making the eye more literal. But all eight will be similar, with maybe the colors of the crowns and logos varied a bit."See the full content of this document
