The revolution in electronic communications systems and tools requires that people have both better writing skills and additional, special skills for these new modes of communication because these new cultures have introduced the possibility, too, for serious errors. The three most important things to remember about e-mail communications are: 1. You will be judged on the basis of your workplace e-mail writing skills. 2. E-mails can be intercepted (and forwarded) to an unintended recipient. 3. E-mails are not truly ever deleted. Electronic e-mail groups and bulletin boards, where messages on a wide variety of subjects are posted, are common worldwide. Posting and discussion rules should be in place. Create a clear, slow, short message with simple instructions on your voice message. Check your messages frequently and return customer or client calls promptly. Many people resist leaving voice messages because they do not think through a message before calling.
