Off the Vine; There's Plenty Going On...

Summary

What's different in the Lauderhill city elections this time around is 4 years and a tremendous shift in population over that period. Whites have fled the city in droves and the once powerful Jewish enclave of Inverrary is dwindling quickly - being replaced by newly arrived Caribbean and Hispanic immigrants. We predict the Lauderhill March election will usher in a sitting black commission majority with a close race between [Hayward Benson] and [Tyson Jones], both black and a competitive race between Paul Shelton and [Dale Holness], both black and vying against incumbent city commissioner [Wally Elfers] for seat 2. Lora Thomson is challenging Margaret Birch's, seat #3.

Somehow, black politicos, once elected, become instant political guru's - you can't tell them anything, nor will you hear from them again until the next election rolls around and then you'll see them latch onto an emotional tear-jerking issue about the other man against the brother man. Well, they've pretty much played that card out to the point that most of us don't even bother to vote - and that's the tragedy.

We don't want to hear about how hard you tried and we could care less about all those 'get funky' speeches - you just didn't measure up so now get your hat and go.
